March 2018 Panther Press
Dear Jacoby Creek Families,
I hope that this month’s Panther Press finds you doing well. Even with a week off from school, February was a busy month here at JCS. I continue to be amazed by our JCS students, families, and staff. We truly have a school to be proud of, and it is because of how much effort and pride people put into making this place great! This month’s Panther Press is full of congratulations for all of the JCS students who have worked hard and represented our school in academics and in sports.
There have been a lot of illnesses going around with all of this cold weather. Thank you for keeping your child home if he/she has a fever or is vomiting. If your child is not ill, please be sure to make regular attendance a priority. It is so important for students to be here every day to get the most out of their education.
EVERY CHILD + EVERY SCHOOL DAY=SUCCESSFUL STUDENTS!!
The School Site Council has rescheduled the Focus Group Meeting to Tuesday, March 6 from 6:00-7:30. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. The purpose of the meeting will be to review the survey results and discuss questions and concerns that arose from the surveys. Daycare and yummy snacks will be provided. Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org to let me know if you will be attending the Focus Group Meeting.
The Jacoby Creek Children’s Educational Foundation is really gearing up the the annual AUCTION! Thank you so much to the JCCEF members for all of the time and energy being invested in making this a great event! Come and join us on Saturday March 17, 2018 at the Arcata Community Center for the annual JCCEF Dinner, Auction, and Dance. Donations for silent and live auctions are still needed. Please drop off items in the office.
I hope that you have a wonderful month. Please keep me updated if there is any information that you would like to see included in the next month’s Panther Press.
I want to make sure that all families know that school safety is of the utmost importance to the staff at JCS. Following the tragedy that occurred in Florida, parents and students have come to the teaching staff and me with questions regarding our school’s plans and protocols in the case of an emergency. I want to assure families that we have spent, and will continue to spend, a lot of time planning, practicing, and discussing our emergency protocols and plans.
Also, please be aware that even very young students are discussing the recent school shootings. These conversations may be coming home as well. We are having age appropriate conversations in classrooms when concerns arise, but I want parents to be aware that all students have different levels of awareness surrounding current events. Please reach out to me or your child’s teacher if you have any specific questions.
